The Lebensborn Alliance is the second book in a series, a thriller with strong historical hints by Joyce Yvette Davis. It is the dawn of the Civil Rights Movement and former WWII Sergeant Kapp Johnson is hired as Dr. Martin Luther King’s bodyguard, so he moves to Montgomery, Alabama. Hans, a multimillionaire and owner of Vancouver Daily Times, sends one of his reporters, Adok, to Montgomery to cover the bus boycott and Adok goes missing. Hans needs the help of Kapp in locating Adok. In Alabama, the search takes them on a journey that involves the KKK and an evil plot that can engineer another global war. Woven into the story is the mystery of a serum and readers will want to discover what it is and the effect it has on humans.

This entry into the series is intriguing, expertly written, and ingeniously plotted. The atmosphere of the Civil Rights Movements with the kind of conflicts associated with the movement are well-explored. Joyce Yvette Davis’s handling of the theme of the color line becomes a powerful buffer to plot development. Hints on historical realities like the Aryan race are manifold. The descriptive style of writing gripped me from the very first page and had me reading nonstop, exploring the multidimensional characters and the plot twists. The characters are sophisticated, drawn from the media, the medical field, and veterans of WWII. They are solidly written with rich backgrounds and traits that make them human and believable. The Lebensborn Alliance is an engaging and fast-paced story that takes readers on a historic ride. It is real; it is imbued with humanism and intrigue. One of those historical novels you won’t want to put down.

The Lebensborn Alliance is the second book in a riveting historical series by Joyce Yvette Davis, a tightly written and ingeniously plotted narrative that plunges the reader into a compelling historical setting. It is set in 1956, at a time when the Civil Rights Movement was gaining ground in the US. The narrative follows Former US Sargent Kapp Johnson, who has just been hired to be Dr. Martin Luther King’s bodyguard as he is involved on a mission to save Adok. Adok has been sent to Montgomery, Alabama to report on the bus boycott by the Managing Editor of the Vancouver Daily Times, Hans, and he has gotten involved with the Ku Klux Klan. The mission to save Adok will put Kapp and Hans on a perilous journey filled with intrigue and a new threat powerful enough to usher humanity into another global war.

This is a cunningly plotted and beautifully written novel and readers will be enticed by the idea of the new serum that is being administered to people, and the number of people receiving the serum is growing. But what about the consequences? The characters are exceptional, plucked from diverse backgrounds, and each has a powerful role in the story. Joyce Yvette Davis does an impeccable job of creating a setting that reflects the historical realities of the American people. The period after WWII is beautifully depicted, the conflict is strong enough to move the story forward and in directions that are unpredictable. One of the things that I look for in stories like this is character motivation and Joyce Yvette Davis does it so well that the reader can see what moves each character. The Lebensborn Alliance is exciting, compelling, and character-driven, but it is also a story with strong racial themes and political intrigue.

5.0 out of 5 Stars The past comes back!
Interesting read about what happens 11 years after the war supposedly ends, but they just get sucked back in without their consent or desire. Add in some black history with MLK and you’ve got a gripping weekend read!

5.0 out of 5 Stars This Book took me back in so many ways
I had 3 Uncles who fought in the War, they were from the south, 1 moved a little North to Kentucky, as we moved all the way to Detroit. I love history, putting myself in someone’s life and times. Not to give anything away but those who enjoy looking back in time at the sacrifices made by Black Americans to get us to where we are now will really enjoy this Book, I did and can’t wait for the next one by this author. Captivating, Intriguing and Mysterious, I was turned in many different directions.

5.0 out of 5 Stars Civil rights, mystery, and superheroes!
I was originally attracted to this book because of the superhero/Captain America-like premise for the characters. The similarities with Cap end with the serum though. Ms. Davis’ characters and plot feel entirely unique to me, and I thoroughly enjoyed the book.
